We’ve always said it. The Costa Brava has some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe (and probably in the world, right?). As experts of Barcelona and its surrounding areas, we always put our region on a pedestal. However this year we've been proven completely right as European Best Destinations, specialists in promoting tourism and culture in Europe, have published a list of the best beaches in Europe in 2019. Out of 86 beaches, 16 of them are located in Spain and 4 of them are on the Costa Brava. Not bad right? The beach of Pasjaca in Croatia leads the list and we can tell that our beaches have nothing to envy it– although it is actually stunning! If you feel inspired to book a holiday to the Costa Brava to see these beautiful beaches for yourself, we've made the task of booking your trip even easier by recommending some of our spectacular holiday villas for rent located near to these four beaches. Cala Sa Boadella The first Catalonian beach is Cala Sa Boadella near Lloret de Mar and ranks at the 6th position. We’d like to warn you that it is well-known for being a beautiful nudist beach. Not suitable for the pudic holiday-goers we guess. However, surely you could find a more private corner to enjoy the warm Mediterranean sea and sun. It even has a private pool, a games room, a wine cellar and a gym! It is a 40 minute drive from Cala Sa Boadella, but just 800 meters from its own fantastic beach, Platja de Sant Feliu de Guíxols. The small cove is located very close to Platja d’Aro and is accessible through a rocky path with magnificent scenery of pine trees and clear water. The tranquil fishing village has maintained its authentic charm, even after all these years. If you fancy a break from dozing on the sand or snorkelling in the clear waters, there is a whole village to explore with plenty of authentic restaurants to enjoy a long lunch of freshly caught fish. It is a real, rural haven away from the most touristy spots and is the perfect place to relax in the most peaceful environment. The house itself has two bedrooms, a pool and a sunny terrace with views of the surrounding countryside. It is full of charm and character with authentic wooden beams in the ceiling, exposed bricks and a cosy fireplace. It is a 20 minute drive from Calella de Palafrugel. Emporda Costa Brava Ullastret on ChicRoom Barcelona Tossa de Mar Tossa de Mar arrives last in the list at number 49, however being the 49th best beach in the whole of Europe is definitely an achievement not to be underestimated! It is a really stunning beach and one of our favourites here at ChicRoom Barcelona. How often do you get to sunbathe in the shadow of a spectacular medieval castle? And it is not just the castle that is begging to be explored, but the historic town with cobbled streets is too. You simply have to dedicate an entire day to this beautiful beach.
